Harlem Renaissance - Sonnet
Lennie Johnson 3rd

It all started in the 1920's
Negroes as they were called multi-talented in the arts
But the whites didn't believe this they took it as funny
They were pushed around something like a cart

The starters of the rebirth of art and Harlem can't we call them Renaissance man
A move with the paint brush left and right
To change the U.S.'s look at color folk just hand them a piece of notebook paper and pen
With this they made money and came through the tunnel and saw the moon light

And know it's an honor just to rep Harlem, New York
Now people look at their poems like that was impressive
No one can take what they did back it's done, eaten and unusable like a dirty fork
Some say this is why Blacks should be electives

I learned a lot from Renaissance man time to start a new movement now
Something that will crack the ground and shake the town
